    Watermelon Turtle

    Gather all your fruit

  • FD_reef_step_03

Slice your melon lengthways so one half is slightly bigger than the other

  • FD_reef_step_04

Use a melon baller to scoop out all the flesh from the smaller half of the melon. (You’ll use these for your coral skewers.)

  • FD_reef_step_05

Turn the small melon half over, and draw a shell pattern on the rind using a marker

Cut a slice from the larger melon half to use for the turtle’s feet, flippers, head and tail

  • FD_reef_step_06

Using the end of a vegetable peeler or knife, carve out the turtle shell pattern on the rind of the small melon half on the marker lines

Now assemble your turtle, place the small melon half down, and tuck the head, 2 front flippers, 2 back flippers and tail just underneath

Turn over the large melon half and scoop out the flesh to make more melon balls, or save it for smoothies

    Nemo Apricots

To make one Nemo clown fish you’ll need one and a half apricots

  • FD_reef_step_10

To add the eye, make a little hole in the apricot with a cocktail stick and push half a raisin into it

  • FD_reef_step_11

Put the Greek yoghurt in a piping bag and draw strips onto the fish and one on the join of the half apricot

  • FD_reef_step_08

    Fruit Skewers

Slice your skewer fruit into bite sized chucks (keep smaller pieces whole)

Slide the fruit and melon balls onto the skewers

Give your skewers a real underwater coral feel by using star cookie cutters to shape your melon and other fruit.

Advise your kids not to eat all the fruit at once as fruit has a high fructose content.
