Olaf Sock

Total Time

You don’t need to be an Ice Queen to make your very own Olaf. Just grab a white sock, a few tools and you’ll be making snow man magic in no time.

Some people might be worth melting for but Olaf might not fare so well in the summer months! So to make sure your snowman can withstand warm hugs we’ve devised a way for you to make your very own Olaf for all seasons.

What You'll Need
  • White sock (child’s size 5 – 7 yrs)
  • Rice (500g)
  • White pom poms
  • Orange, white and black felt
  • Thin brown card
  • White string
  • Scissors
  • Glue
How To Make It
  1. Add ¾ of the rice into the sock. Shake the sock to ensure the rice is all at the bottom of the sock.

  2. Shape it into a circular base making sure the top of the sock is positioned in the middle.

  3. Wrap string around the top, tighten and tie with a knot to secure the first rice base.

  4. Then add 1/3 of the remaining rice, squeezing this into circular shape – one that is smaller than the base. Secure with string.

  5. Pour the remaining rice into the sock and shape the head so it is taller than it is wide. Secure with string.

  6. Using the black felt cut out three circles for the buttons and glue these on, two to the base and one to the middle section.

  7. Cut out the mouth, hair and eyebrows and glue these in to position.

  8. Taking the white felt, cut teeth and eyes and attach these with glue. Then add small black circles of felt on to the white eyes for the pupils.

  9. Cut an orange nose and glue this to the face.

  10. Cut out two arm and hands from the card and attach these to the base of the sock with glue.

  11. Finally glue the two pom poms to the base of Olaf as his feet.
