Inspired by the Queen Of Hearts herself, these tomato tarts are as cute as they are tasty.
Simple to whip up, these snackable tarts are sure to bring some royal glamour to any unbirthday tea party.
- 1 pack of pre-rolled chilled puff pastry
- Dijon mustard
- 2 large tomatoes
- 2 heart shaped cutters (various sizes)
Preheat your oven to 200c/170F and line a baking tray with greaseproof paper. Unroll your pastry onto a flour-dusted chopping board.
Using the biggest of your heart cutters, cut out as many shapes as you can from the pastry mix.
Place half of the hearts on the baking tray.
Prick the pastry with a fork and spread on a small amount of Dijon mustard.
Use a knife to cut the tomato into thick slices.
Using the smaller cutter, cut heart shapes out of the tomato slices and place on top of your pastry on the baking tray.
Take the unused pastry hearts and cut out the middles using the small cutter. Cook the middles seperately. Place the newly created thin pastry heart on your tomato-topped pastry heart bottoms.
Bake in the oven for 8 minutes until golden brown.
